What Is Botox Cosmetic?
A Botox treatment is an injection to not only soften the appearance of wrinkles but is used to prevent the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. Botox and Dysport work similarly. Botox refreshes multiple areas of the face and is a common procedure. Botox also treats hyperhidrosis, commonly known as excessive sweating as well as TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain. Botox was the first FDA-approved Botulinum Type A neuromodulator and therapeutical that came into the market in 1989. Approval for cosmetic use was in 2002.

Botox Frequently Asked Questions
How does Botox work?
What is the length of treatment for Botox?
A consultation and treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Is there downtime when getting Botox?
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport(abobotulinumtoxin A)?
Dysport injections also prevent the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. Dysport was FDA cleared in 2009 for cosmetic uses.
Dysport differs in terms of molecular behavior and diffusion. Dysport is able to spread faster, over larger surface areas and is fast-acting; whereas Botox has a high concentration and slow-moving, perfect for small areas.
Your provider may use both for certain areas.
Am I a Botox candidate?
Most people are a candidate; however, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have skin allergies or a known Botulinum Type A allergy, you should avoid the procedure. Let your provider know about any severe illnesses or pre-existing conditions.
Both Botox and Dysport are FDA approved.
What Are Fillers?
Fillers / Juvederm
-
Juvederm is a family of hyaluronic acid-based fillers, known for their superior ability to retain moisture and plump the skin. They're ideal for addressing common areas of concern like nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and loss of volume in the cheeks or lips. A consultation is recommended prior to service.
